Turtle Rescue

Mar 18, 2018 Ocean Stories

Congratulations to two of our guests whose good eyesight and quick actions helped save a turtle last week. They spotted this olive ridley sea turtle tangled in nets drifting past our beach and immediately went out to rescue it from the nets.

After cutting the turtle loose, it was set free to swim safely away, hopefully for a long a productive life.

The olive ridley turtle is classified as ‘vulnerable’ according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), and is listed in Appendix I of CITES.
