About the Maldives

What to Wear at Milaidhoo Maldives

Located on the equator, the Maldives enjoys warm temperatures rarely dipping below 27°C, even at night. We recommend lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made from natural fabrics like cotton, silk or linen for your comfort during your stay.

At Milaidhoo, your romantic Maldives resort and premier Baa Atoll resort, the dress code is simple and relaxed. We kindly ask that swimwear be reserved for the beach and pool areas and not worn in our restaurants. Embracing our barefoot ethos, flip-flops or sandals are ideal for getting around the island. If you plan to enjoy our gym or yoga pavilion, please bring suitable gym shoes.

Weather in the Maldives

The Maldives offers year-round warmth, with daytime and nighttime temperatures ranging between 27°C and 31°C. January to April are the best months for your activities in the Maldives Island and Maldives excursions, as this is the dry season with minimal rainfall. July to November brings the wet monsoon, with occasional heavy showers balanced by four to seven hours of sunshine daily. May and December serve as transition months with more varied weather.

For up-to-date weather information, please visit the Maldives Meteorological Service.

Health and Vaccinations When Travelling to the Maldives

No special vaccinations are required beyond standard traveller immunisations. While malaria is not present, dengue fever, transmitted by daytime mosquitoes, is a known risk in local villages and Malé. We recommend using mosquito repellent during the day. Milaidhoo provides a resident paramedic and a first aid centre for peace of mind.

Visa to the Maldives

Most visitors do not require a visa before arrival. Upon entry, you’ll receive a free 30-day tourist visa stamp in your passport. To enter, your passport must be valid for six months beyond your stay and you must have a confirmed hotel reservation and an onwards or return ticket. For full entry requirements, visit Maldives Immigration.

An arrival entry form will be issued for you to complete; keep half of this document safe for departure.

What Not to Bring to the Maldives

Alcohol is restricted outside resort islands like Milaidhoo and will be confiscated if brought in from duty-free shops. For the privacy and tranquillity of all guests, drones and similar devices are not permitted on the island. We do operate a resort drone occasionally for photography and will gladly share these images with you.

Currency Exchange

All pricing at Milaidhoo Maldives is in US dollars. While the local currency, the Rufiyaa, is used across the Maldives (approximately 15 to the dollar), you won’t typically need to exchange money unless exploring local islands extensively.

Cultural Notes

Nudity and topless sunbathing for women are illegal in the Maldives. Should you venture to local islands, modest clothing covering shoulders to knees is respectfully requested for both men and women.

Milaidhoo offers a seamless blend of effortless style and mindful respect, making it the ideal setting to enjoy the most memorable activities in Maldives island and exceptional Maldives excursions, all within the unparalleled beauty of a romantic Maldives resort nestled in the heart of the Baa Atoll.
