Close your eyes and you can likely conjure up imagery of a perfect island idyll: A sweep of sugary sand fringed by palms, with a lazily swinging hammock; while all around, as far as the eye can see, lies the glittering ocean. Even just uttering the word “island” can bring a smile to our faces. that makes it so special, it is also the local people and their warm-hearted hospitality. From the moment you step off the seaplane at Milaidhoo you are welcomed with open arms and treated like family. The warm smiles of our team members and their laissez-faire attitude to life adds to the feeling of serenity and relaxation.

A dedicated Island Host, every villa has one, is your key to the island and he or she will ensure your every comfort. Within minutes of arriving at the seaplane platform you will be enjoying a welcome vanilla infused coconut drink or a glass of Ruinart Champagne, before being bundled into a buggy and whisked away to your villa for check in. If you’re feeling tired and hungry when you arrive, you can enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing drinks in one of the restaurants, while your bags are unpacked for you. Our Island Hosts are well trained but also naturally intuitive to anticipate your needs. If you arrive feeling refreshed, you’re given a tour immediately, if you’re not in the mood, your villa host will wait until you’ve settled in, eaten and feel sufficiently revitalised after your travels, before taking you on a tour of the island. From pointing out Maldivian flowers to showing you were to pick up your snorkelling gear and discussing the best parts of the house reef to explore, you will feel as if you know every corner of the island.

Your villa host is on call around the clock to ensure you enjoy a special experience, tailored to your wishes, which he will have discovered when he reached out to you via email prior to your arrival.  There is no formal reception on the island, rather, your Island Host will make all your bookings for restaurant meals, spa treatments, water sports and excursions.

Island hosts play an integral role in our hotel operations – they ensure all is perfectly organised for you, including checking on any special dietary requirements, destination dining arrangements with waiter staff and a personal chef, to coordinating housekeeping services for when you are not in your room.

Another important aspect of an Island Host’s duties is to create “Milaidhoo Moments” for you while you are staying with us. Milaidhoo Moments transcend ordinary luxury and are curated in a way that every interaction and every activity feels customised especially  for you. It is the unexpected surprises and the small details that your Island Host creates for you that we hope will become cherished memories that you will carry with you long after you return home.

Whether it is drawing a floral and fragranced bath for you after a snorkelling trip, creating a beautiful and personalised bed decoration at night which you discover after dinner, to giving you a hand-made bracelet made from shells collected on the beach, or surprising you with a framed photograph of a special moment.

Should it be necessary, Island Hosts will also coordinate all your milestone moments like anniversaries or engagements. Together with a team of experts, known as the Milaidhoo Family, they will create the perfect celebration including stunning décor and delectable cuisine.

Island Hosts can be likened to magicians as they appear when needed and are around to ensure you are always perfectly satisfied, but they are discreet and never intrusive.

On departure day, you will receive a heartfelt send-off as your Island Host accompanies you by boat to the seaplane platform. Many of our guests continue to stay in touch long after their stay, while repeat guests often check to make sure their favourite Island Host will be there before booking their next getaway.
