How many days are sufficient to visit the Maldives?

Jun 05, 2021 Milaidhoo Moments

You have finally decided to travel to this beautiful paradise for the first time, so perhaps now you are wondering how many days are sufficient to visit the Maldives? You don’t want to fly all the way there and then miss out on activities or experiences because you did not allow sufficient days to visit the Maldives. Do not worry, here are a few factors to consider so you can decide how many days are sufficient to visit the Maldives.

1. How long is your journey to the Maldives?

If your journey takes a day, then you should plan to stay at least a week or more so you can relax, acclimatise and enjoy the Maldives to the fullest. If your flight takes only a few hours, then you will find the Maldives to be the perfect long weekend escape.

2. With whom are you travelling?

Be sure to make that decision wisely. Whether you are travelling with your partner, your family or your friends, expect to spend a lot of time together. Resorts like Milaidhoo are small and very calm and serene. While you can explore the island and beautiful underwater world on your own, with the right company, this becomes even more enjoyable.

3. What are you looking for – relaxation, romance, adventure and exploration?

Whatever you seek from your holiday in Maldives, you’ll probably feel you don’t want to leave. Whether its relaxation or action, a resort in the Maldives like Milaidhoo caters for every pleasure. So a few days more than you originally planned sounds like a good idea to make the best out of your trip.

4. What is your budget and how many resorts would you like to visit?

This is probably the most important factor to consider when planning your visit to the Maldives. If you are thinking of spending your vacation in two or more resorts, you should always make sure to stay at least two or three nights in each resort. Travelling between resorts takes time as well as expense and you don’t want to spend a lot of your holiday travelling from one island to another. If island hopping is your dream, then allow an extra day for every transfer.

5. Tips from the islanders

The team at Milaidhoo has welcomed guests from near and far over the years and have noticed that most guests take a few days to accustom fully to island life: to just letting go and indulging in doing nothing. Also, depending on where you live, the climate might be quite different, never mind the time taken to get to the Maldives, as well as the time difference itself. So you should consider that it might take you a couple of days to get into vacation mode, to let go and to fully embrace your time off.
